An Evening's Walk
Sunday evening we took another walk through the Old City, mainly to see the Jewish Quarter.
The most important thing to bring to Jerusalem is your passage cards--when you're in the Bible Bee, of course. |

A bit of history |
Chicken for a Kaparot ritual. |
Inside the City
Remembering the time when the Turks tried to kill all the Armenians. |
Check Deuteronomy 6:9, where we are commanded to affix a mezuzah on every doorpost. |
This is how Jerusalem was defended in ancient times--archers stood at each of these rooms and shot arrows through the narrow holes. |
The menorah for the Third Temple. The Jews are waiting for permission to build the new temple on the Temple Mount, where the Dome of the Rock currently stands. |

The Cardo
The Cardo was the main commercial avenue of Jerusalem for many years. |

Old remains |
How the Cardo would've looked like in ancient times--bustling and full of people (now it is quite empty). Notice the modern-day boy on the right of the picture? |
Sign (see below) |
Jerusalem has been built layer upon layer over the centuries! A section has been dug out--the first foundations lie VERY DEEP!! |
Pizza
On our way back home from exploring the Old City we stopped to get a to-go pizza; 20 shekels all cheese.
As we ate the delicious, hot pizza, I couldn't help thinking how wonderful it was to live right in the heart of Jerusalem!
